The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty (“Special Rapporteur”) is an independent human rights expert elected by the U.N. Human Rights Council to monitor, report and advise on extreme poverty and its relationship with human rights around the world. Mr. Philip Alston conducted an official country visit to the United States of America from December 1 - December 15, 2017.

As part of this visit, the Special Rapporteur attended a series of regional consultations to examine the situation in the United States as it relates to poverty and human rights. The dates of these consultations and their locations are as follows:
